Chest Pain / Breathing Pain


  • Breathing pain or chest pain is pain in the chest or upper back
  • Breathing pain or chest pain can be experienced as sharp, intense pain or a dull ache and can limit trunk, head, or shoulder movement. It can also be experienced as pain with breathing normally or with athletic activity.
  • Breathing pain or chest pain can be caused by several different issues including: joint dysfunction in upper back or ribs, and/or muscle imbalance in chest, upper back or shoulder. Additionally, this pain can stem from compensation for chronic neck or low back pain
You’re going to get better in … 8 to 12 visits! Chest or Breathing Pain Treatment Can Include:

Kyphosis: Hunched Spine


  • Kyphosis is an increase in forward bend of your upper back – this gives the appearance of a “hunched” back
  • Can be experienced as pain or stiffness in the upper back, the inability to stand up straight or noticeable inability to reach overhead
  • Can be caused by a structural deformity in the spine from birth, a compensatory curvature of the spine due to chronic neck or low back pain, and/or Osteopenia/Osteoperosis. Mild forms of Kyphosis can be caused by poor posture, trunk weakness or poor ergonomics.
  • Your Physical Therapy Treatment is going to improve your everyday function and will prevent future degeneration of your condition.

Rib Pain


  • Pain in trunk, rib, or chest.
  • Can be experienced chest pain, side ache, shoulder blade pain, difficulty taking a deep breath, and can be sharp and intense or dull and achy
  • Can be caused by direct injury to ribs in car accident or fall, or can come on “out of nowhere” due weak shoulder blade muscles or to compensating for chronic low back pain or neck pain
You are going to get better in… 4-12 treatments! Rib Pain Treatment Can Include:
  • Joint Mobilization
  • Therapeutic Massage
  • Individualized Therapeutic Exercise to improve strength, stability, and flexibility in order to restore healthy movement patterns
  • Therapeutic Taping

Scoliosis: Curved Spine


  • Scoliosis is an “S” or “C” shaped curve in the spine
  • It can be experienced as pain or stiffness in the the neck, upper back or lower back, can limit twisting, reaching, standing, sitting or athletic activity due to pain or stiffness
  • It can be caused by a structural deformity in the spine from birth, a compensatory curvature of the spine due to chronic neck or low back pain. Mild forms of Scoliosis can be caused by repetitive twisted postures and stomach sleeping.
  • Your Physical Therapy Treatment is going to decrease your pain, improve your everyday function and will prevent future degeneration of your condition.
You’re going to get better in … 8 to 16 visits! Scoliosis Treatment Can Include:
  • Joint Mobilization

Shoulder Blade Pain


  • Pain or ache in the shoulder blade region or upper back area
  • Can be experienced as sharp pain, dull ache, tightness, weakness, and/or muscle tension
  • Can be caused be several issues including: acute or chronic neck pain, whiplash, muscle imbalance, chronic low back pain, rotator cuff weakness or strain and/or muscle tension
  • Your Physical Therapy Evaluation will determine what the specific cause of your pain is and your PT will treat it accordingly to help get you back to pain-free function
You’re going to get better in … 8 to 12 visits! Shoulder Blade Pain Treatment Includes:
  • Joint Mobilization
  • Joint Manipulation
  • Therapeutic Massage
  • Individualized Therapeutic Exercise to improve strength, stability, and flexibility in order to restore healthy movement patterns
  • Can include desensitization of the central nervous system (Associative Awareness Technique (AAT)), Trigger Point Dry Needling, or Therapeutic Taping




Spine Pain + Stiffness


  • Pain or stiffness in the mid back
  • Can be experienced as sharp, intense pain or dull ache, muscle tension, and/or the inability to sit up straight or twist your neck or back
  • Can be caused by several different issues including: joint and muscle stiffness, poor posture, poor ergonomics, Osteoperosis/Osteopenia, and/or acute injury. Additionally, pain and stiffness in this area can be a compensation for chronic neck or low back pain.
You’re going to get better in … 8 to 12 visits! Spine Pain Treatment Can Include:
  • Joint Mobilization
  • Joint Manipulation

  • Trigger Point Dry Needling

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome


  • Muscle and joint dysfunction in the upper back, chest and collarbone area
  • Can be experienced pain, numbness, or tingling in the chest and/or entire arm
  • Can be caused by several issues: poor posture, muscle tightness in chest and neck, muscle weakness in shoulder blades and neck – sometimes caused by having a large lower neck vertebra or an extra rib
