Education
Dr. Mara received her Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology in 2019 from the University of San Francisco. She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver in 2024. Mara is certified in Dry Needling through Regis University with extended training through Evidence-Based Dry Needling. She has completed apprenticeship in Associative Awareness Technique with CCPT's Julie Byrt. Mara's continued education also includes PRI Postural Respiration, Therapeutic Pain Education, PIPER Level 1 Pelvic Health, and extensive mentorships in fascial manipulation and vestibular care. She continues to pursue deeper knowledge through continued education with the Institute of Physical Art, Schroth Method, and other organizations.
Specialty
Dr. Mara enjoys working with a diverse range of orthopedic and neurological conditions. She takes particular interest in mind-body conditions including recurrent injury, chronic pain, spinal conditions, neuropathies, fascial chain dysfunction, dizziness/sensory conflict, and trauma. With over 10 years of yoga training and teaching experience, she sees the powerful connections between nervous system regulation, breathing, postural alignment, movement quality, intention, attention, and wellbeing.
Philosophy
Dr. Mara strives to walk alongside each of her patients on their journey into greater health and understanding. Her approach combines manual therapy, individualized exercise programming, patient education, and general wellness practices. She feels that physical ailments are often connected to emotional and mental experiences, or as Willa Blythe Baker writes, "the mind is embedded in the body."
Life
Originally from southern California, Mara now feels at home in the mountains since moving here in 2021. In her free time, she enjoys seeing live music, practicing yoga, swimming, hiking, backpacking, skiing, energy work, poetry, and feeling the change of seasons.
