Physical therapy isn't just about recovering from an injury. It's about moving with confidence, maintaining independence, and continuing to do the things that make life meaningful.

At Coal Creek Physical Therapy, we understand that navigating dizziness, balance concerns, or a neurologic condition can feel overwhelming. Whether you're recovering from a concussion or stroke, managing Parkinson's disease, or experiencing unexplained dizziness, having the right support can make a meaningful difference.

With individualized treatment and a whole-person approach, our team helps patients build strength, improve mobility, and feel more confident in their everyday lives.

Meet Dr. Ashley Meinecke: A Passion for Neurologic & Vestibular Rehabilitation

Dr. Ashley Meinecke, PT, DPT, Cert-DN, brings a unique combination of clinical experience, specialized training, and genuine compassion to Coal Creek Physical Therapy.

Ashley has a special interest in treating acute, chronic, and progressive neurologic conditions, with particular expertise in Parkinson's disease, vestibular rehabilitation, and recovery following stroke or brain injury.

She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Shenandoah University and has experience working in acute rehabilitation hospitals, helping patients rebuild strength, coordination, balance, and walking abilities. She has also completed extensive vestibular rehabilitation training and earned a certificate in vestibular rehab.

Ashley is especially passionate about working with individuals living with Parkinson's disease and has published research in the Journal of Physical Therapy Reviews exploring physical therapy's potential role in slowing disease progression.

Her approach goes beyond treating symptoms. Drawing on her background in both physical therapy and mental health, Ashley considers the physical, emotional, and lifestyle factors that influence recovery.

She believes progress looks different for everyone, and her goal is to meet patients where they are, empower them through education, and celebrate every step forward.

Dizziness & Vertigo: Finding Your Balance Again

If you've experienced spinning sensations, nausea, lightheadedness, or unexplained unsteadiness, you know how disruptive dizziness can be.

Your balance depends on several systems working together, including your vision, inner ear, and the sensory receptors that help your brain understand where your body is in space. When one or more of these systems isn't working properly, even everyday movements can become challenging.

Dizziness can have many causes, including inner ear conditions such as BPPV, vestibular migraines, neck dysfunction, and certain neurologic conditions.

With specialized training in vestibular rehabilitation, Ashley helps patients better understand the source of their symptoms and works to improve their tolerance for movements and positions that may trigger dizziness.

Treatment may include vestibular rehabilitation, specialized positioning maneuvers, balance exercises, and manual therapy.

The goal is simple: Help you move through your day with greater stability, less fear of triggering symptoms, and more confidence.

Concussion Rehabilitation: Supporting Your Recovery

Concussions can happen in an instant, but their effects may extend into many areas of daily life.

Whether caused by a fall, car accident, or sports-related injury, a concussion can lead to headaches, dizziness, fatigue, light sensitivity, difficulty concentrating, or changes in balance and coordination.

Because concussion symptoms vary from person to person, recovery requires an individualized approach.

At Coal Creek Physical Therapy, treatment may include vestibular therapy, vision and coordination exercises, cervical manual therapy, and a gradual return to physical activity.

Our therapists also help patients understand how sleep, daily routines, and activity levels can support recovery, with the goal of returning to meaningful activities safely and confidently.

Stroke Rehabilitation: Rebuilding Strength & Independence

Life after a stroke looks different for everyone. Some individuals experience changes in walking or balance, while others face challenges with coordination, vision, strength, or everyday movements.

Ashley has experience working with individuals recovering from stroke and brain injuries, including patients relearning how to walk and working toward greater independence.

At Coal Creek Physical Therapy, stroke rehabilitation is tailored to each patient's abilities, challenges, and personal goals.

Treatment may include walking and balance training, strengthening exercises, postural control strategies, and functional movements that support daily independence.

Whether you're in the earlier stages of recovery or working toward long-term progress, our focus is helping you continue building mobility, strength, and confidence.

Parkinson's Disease: Staying Active & Independent

Living with Parkinson's disease can bring changes in movement, coordination, balance, posture, and endurance.

Physical therapy plays an important role in helping individuals maintain mobility, improve function, and remain as active and independent as possible.

Parkinson's rehabilitation is an area Ashley is particularly passionate about. Her clinical interests and published research reflect her commitment to understanding how physical therapy can support individuals living with progressive neurologic conditions.

Treatment may incorporate large-amplitude movements, gait training, balance exercises, strengthening, and postural work.

Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, Ashley and the Coal Creek team work with patients to create treatment plans that reflect their individual needs, abilities, and lifestyles.

Cerebral Palsy: Individualized Care for Children & Adults

Cerebral palsy is a neurologic condition that affects movement, posture, and muscle coordination. Because its effects vary widely, physical therapy should always be tailored to the individual.

Coal Creek Physical Therapy works with both children and adults living with cerebral palsy.

Depending on each person's needs, treatment may focus on improving balance, managing muscle stiffness, developing strength, supporting walking ability, or addressing pain and overuse injuries.

Our approach centers on identifying what matters most to each patient and developing a thoughtful plan to support movement, function, and participation in everyday life.

Balance Training: Moving Through Life With Confidence

You don't need to have a diagnosed neurologic condition to benefit from balance-focused physical therapy.

If you've started feeling unsteady on your feet, experienced a fall, or become hesitant about activities you once enjoyed, balance training may help.

Our therapists use targeted exercises to improve stability, coordination, body awareness, posture, and lower-body strength.

We also incorporate practical strategies that prepare you for real-world movements, whether that's navigating uneven terrain, walking through your community, or moving confidently around your home.

Because improving balance isn't just about reducing fall risk. It's about having the freedom and confidence to keep doing what you love.

A Personalized Approach to Neurologic Physical Therapy

No two people experience the same condition in exactly the same way. That's why effective physical therapy begins with understanding the person behind the diagnosis.

At Coal Creek Physical Therapy, Ashley and our team believe in looking beyond symptoms to understand your goals, lifestyle, and what meaningful progress looks like for you.

Whether you're working toward recovery, managing an ongoing neurologic condition, or hoping to regain confidence in your movement, we're here to support you with individualized, compassionate care.
